1956 Chevrolet Passenger car Z BAR
The 56 Chevy equalizer is a cross between the 55
and 57 bellcranks naturally. With the levers or tabs
as I call them being in the same position in 1955
and 1956. Yet the frame and bell housing brackets
are the same in 1956 and 1957.
1956 Chevy Z bar At a glance it is hard to tell the difference between
General Motors Part #3726089 (above) and the
Part #
3746615 of the 1957 model year.
MeasurementsThe center "pipe" on the "089" z-bar is 5 11/16"
long. The short lower push rod tab is about 2 1/4"
from the center of the "pipe" to the center of the
push rod hole. The longer upper clutch rod tab
is approximately 3 3/4" center to center.
NOSPhotographs are of a New Old Stock GM part

are machined to size, unlike reproductions that are
available.

Disclaimer: Factory correct applications are your responsibility. GM made part and part # changes with no rhyme but a reason (no production interruptions at any cost).
Application charts and part numbers are for replacement parts that were available at the time of parts book printing. My observations come from the parts I have in my collection or other reliable sources your parts may differ.
If Factory correctness is your goal, do more research, join car clubs,
forums and buy an assembly manual if one is available for your Project Car (you won’t be sorry).
This is a fun and interesting part of the hobby!
