Identiying the Chevrolet 3925505 Bellhousing

The Chevrolet "505" is a cast iron 168 tooth flywheel Bellhousing.
It has a 5" center hole which makes it compatible with Truck transmissions made for GM vehicles.

Front view

Part# and Date Code
The part # is cast into the Trans mounting flange,
and can't be seen with trans bolted up.
The date code is alpha numeric like those cast into engine blocks.

My example reads A 5 2
A= Jan.
5= fifth day
2= Year

Inside view
This view shows the starter and trans mounting holes.
Starter mount consists of two 3/8"-16 tapped holes and one 3/8" clearance hole.
Trans mount utilizes two 1/2"-12 tapped holes for the upper trans ears and two clearance holes for the lowers.

   Notice the slim flange for inspection cover mating compared to the car bells.

     The pictures below are for comparing Car to truck bells,
at first glance they are similar. But the differences are major.
Not the least of which is the transmission mounting hole and motor mount provisions.
