The 9791018 bearing is more of a spacer that is used with a bolt
and two washers to make a engine side swivel for the z-bar on
1968-72 Pontiac midsized and 1971 full sized cars.
"018 bearing"This part is a bushing style bearing with the outside diameter
and length being the critical dimensions.
LengthThis is a used original spacer showing wear and possible length "crush".
The length should be determined by the levers measurement.
(this one is 0.715 long)
DiameterThe inside diameter just needs clearance for the bolt.
(this used 9790108 is 0.513)
Outside diameter is used as a bearing surface and should spin easily (with grease)
in the lever. (This one measures 0.685)
LeverThe part # 9790108 bearing fits in the large hole on the right
allowing this lever to rotate.
Engine side swivelThis is the complete swivel. The bolt is screwed into the block
with the two washers capturing the bearing.
NOTE: There needs to be enough clearance between the washers to allow the lever to turn freely.
GM made part and part # changes with no rhyme but a reason (no production interruptions at any cost).
