Many Big parts suppliers would have you believe most Pontiac and Chevy parts are interchangeable. This is not true. If you have owned both of these makes from this era, you know there are more differences than similarities. This fact is very evident when comparing 1968 to 1972 4 speed manual conversion components. From the pedal hanger to the shifter, there are very few parts that are factory correct.
This is not to say that the conversion won't work if you start at the pedal bracket and you use all Chevrolet parts. I'm saying if you mix and match parts you are asking for trouble, and you will hurt the value of your Pontiac. To most enthusiasts using Chevelle manual transmission parts in a GTO is like using a Chevy engine in a Poncho.
