1978-87 A & G Body Reproduction Pedals

Below I compare Original clutch and brake pedals (swing arms) with two different sets of reproductions I acquired on ebay.
I don't know the original sellers of these parts, so I identify them by $89 a set (or cheapo), $99 a piece, and Original. I hope with the pictures and descriptions you can make an informed choice and know the right questions to ask your vendors.

Clutch Pedals
Clutch Pedals
Topis from a one owner 1980 Malibu.
Middleis a $99 reproduction. Bottomis from an $89 reproduction set.

Hanger Ends
Hanger Ends
$99 repo (middle) and original (right) are the same and utilize a spacer and two nylon bushings.
Cheapo (left) doesn't have I.D. for spacer and bushings and simply swings on 7/16" bolt. Not good!

Pedal Ends
Pedal Ends
Cheapo (left) is just a flat plate. (no big deal it's covered with the pedal pad).

Clutch Rod Holes
Clutch Rod Holes
Second hole down is where upper clutch push rod attaches. Notice typical wear on original.

Brake Pedals
Brake Pedals
Top: Original
Middle: $99 Reproduction
Bottom: $89 a set Reproduction

Master Cylinder Attachment
Master Cylinder Attachment
Cheapo (left) has extra long pin to make up for missing bend above upper hole (should work with washers)
$99 a piece repo has a large pin.

Brake Pedal Hanger End
Brake Pedal Hanger End
Cheapo is made by welding a piece of pipe into a hole in pedal shaft.
Note:pipe is too small to drill out and use bushings and spacer.

I believe the best way to go, if these were my only choices would be to buy a $99 reproduction clutch pedal and cut my Original Brake pedal pad down to size.

Disclaimer:

Factory correct applications are your responsibility.
GM made part and part # changes with no rhyme but a reason (no production interruptions at any cost).

Application charts are for replacement parts that were available at the time of parts book printing.
My observations come from the parts I have in my collection or other reliable sources your parts may differ.
If Factory correctness is your goal, do more research, join car clubs,
forums and buy an assembly manual if one is available for your Project Car (you wont be sorry).
This is a fun and interesting part of the hobby!
